Walter W. Lins, 95, of Great Falls, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Peace Hospice.Walt was born on May 5, 1921 in Great Falls, Montana to Arthur and Stella (Crane) Lins. He grew up in Great Falls, graduating from GFHS in 1939. He married the love of his life, Marie Lesofski, on April 19, 1941 in Great Falls. Walt enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1943, serving until his discharge in 1946. He operated his own painting business, becoming a union contractor in 1955. His painting business was successful until his retirement.Walt enjoyed restoring old Model A cars in his spare time. He was a proud member of the Painters Union Local #260 and the Skunk Wagon Car Club. After retiring, his passion became his grandchildren, whom he was immensely proud of, and his beloved Model As.Walts illness ultimately forced him to move into Peace Hospice, where they took such great care of him. The family thanks them for their kindness and love.Walt is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Marie of Great Falls; sons Terry (Mary Jane) of Great Falls, Ron (Muriel) of California and Bob (Carol) of Minnesota; daughter Gayla (Calvin) Mertes of Great Falls; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Art and Jack; and a great-granddaughter.Viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. followed by a vigil service held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. A funeral liturgy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
