Stan Merriman, 77, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Peace Hospice. Celebration of Life will be Saturday June 9, 2018 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel at 10:00 am. Stan was born October 10, 1940 to Darlene Carlson Merriman and John Dawson in Great Falls, Montana. He joined the Navy in 1957 and served on the aircraft carrier USS Bennington for four years. Later he was a partsman, mechanic, truck driver and the one he loved most was ranching. He married Evelyn “Evie” Finley Lux, on May 21, 1977 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and they were married for 41 years.They have a blended family of four daughters, two sons, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Stan’s hobbies were creek fishing, mostly at Little Belt Creek and Smith River. He had a passion for cars especially his 57 Chevy Belair hardtop, Corvette convertible and Model A. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR. Stan is survived by his wife, Evelyn “Evie” Merriman; brothers Jess Merriman and Mike (Janette) Dawson; sisters Marylou (Orville) Chigbrow, Cheryl (Bob) Gies and Pat (Bob) Bouerle; sons Greg Lux and Jeff (Cathi) Lux; daughters Tammy (Tom) McIntosh, Gwen (Mark) Merriman, Pam White, and Debbie Merriman; eight grandchildren Jade Matsko, Deon Merriman, Sydney Merriman, Shaylyn Merriman, Amy Lux, Nathan Lux, Seth Lux and Emily Kipapa and 10 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Natalie, Mason, Elijah, Lexi, Dean, Audrey, Makaya, Kimmy, and Grayson. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Darlene Merriman and John and Grace Dawson; brother Jack Dawson; sisters-in-law Shirley Hess and Rhea Merriman; nephew Scotty Merriman and his K-9 companion Tuffy.
