Roy O. Young

Roy O. Young, 101, a retiree from the Montana State Employment Office and the Montana Fish Wildlife Department, passed away January 27, 2021. Roy was born to Winifred and Ernst Young on September 30, 1919 in Great Falls, Montana. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1937. He held several jobs in Great Falls before joining the Navy in 1942 and had the honor of being a World War II Veteran. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a beekeeper and a great woodworker. Roy is survived by daughters, Bonnie (Hal) Jorgensen, Loretta Stemple, and Kathy Ermisch; and stepdaughters, Karleen Anderson and Donna (Paul) Koss. We wish to thank his special care partners at Highgate Senior Living and the compassionate nurses at Peace Hospice. Special thanks to his niece and nephew, Cheryl and Nelson Quintero for being a significant part of his life and to his granddaughter, Yvonne Stemple for her love and support during his final days. Roy is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Hammer Young; brother, Vernon Young; and grandsons, Jack Enott and Justin Bradshaw. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home. At his request, no services are planned.Burial will take place at a later date.
