Raymond McArthur, 95, of Great Falls, passed away June 11, 2017 at his home with family by his side.A memorial service will be Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Raymond was born on January 26, 1922 in Great Falls to Walter and Julie (Yaeger) McArthur. He was educated in Great Falls graduating from Great Falls High School in 1939. He worked on the family farm in Lewistown. He was drafted on November 25, 1944 in the US Army. He was honorably discharged on December 27, 1946 at the close of World War II. He was most proud of being a part of the liberation of the Dauchau Concentration Camp in Germany. Upon his return to Great Falls he started working at General Mills where he retired after 38 years.He married Jacqueline Gretton on November 17, 1950 in Great Falls. She passed away December 7, 1999.Raymond was a supporter of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and the VFW. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandkids were the light of his life.He is survived by his daughters, Pamela (Bryan) Sayler of Belgrade and Diane (Michael) Moog of Great Falls; brother Joe McArthur of Great Falls; sister Ivy Joslyn of Great Falls; grandchildren Brittany (Austin) Greydanus, Kelsey (Brian) Bettle, Matthew Moog, and Jessica Moog; and great-grandchildren Brayden and Kinzie Bettle.Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline; brothers Kenny, Frank, and Walter McArthur; sisters Angel Fetty and Rose VanTighem; and his parents.
