We, Leonard, Jill and Ella were with Leonard J. Bench Jr. when he passed away early in the morning on November 4, 2015. Seventy-six years after his birth in Houston, TX. He was fighting lung cancer (no, he never smoked) and his health deteriorated even more when his lungs were compromised with pneumonia.Dad enjoyed playing golf. He was a country music fan and Alan Jackson was one of his favorite singers. Our parents loved to dance and even used to be a part of a square dance group. He enjoyed Shark Tank, Fox News, football and any old western he could find on TV. His 1996 Mustang convertible was one of his prized possessions. Dad was particular about his yard which was as green as a golf course.Dad attended St. Thomas High School in Houston and graduated from Texas A&M; a very proud Aggie! In Great Falls, he made the rounds to local grocery stores and managed a regional food brokerage business, Performance Systems, Inc. Retirement came a bit earlier than expected, as the whole nature of the industry changed. We have great memories from just a year ago. Dad planned two large gatherings to celebrate two milestones, their 50th wedding anniversary, and his 75th birthday. We want all those who attended here in Great Falls and in Houston to consider those as a memorial to our dad.Dad and mom had a winter home in Houston, TX, where they enjoyed time with family and many old and new friends alike. We will miss our wonderful father who was a loving husband and all-around good guy.
