Dolores Pee Wee Ursula Higgins Magee (Brown Eyes), 72, of Browning, passed away of natural causes Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in Great Falls.Pee Wee was born August 29, 1941 in Browning, MT. She attended schools in Seattle, Superior, Missoula, Flandreau, SD and graduated from Browning High School in 1958.Pee Wee married the love of her life, Donald Magee on December 12, 1958. They were true soul mates and best friends. This year would be their 55th anniversary.From the early days, Pee Wee worked as a soda jerk in the local drug stores in Browning including Todds Cafe and Joe Lewis Caf. She then assisted in managing the Gift Shop in the Museum of the Plains Indian. In 1973, she began her employment with the Blackfeet Tribe as the Operator/Receptionist for the Tribe, Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Health Service. She then moved into the position of Enrollment Clerk and eventually became the Tribes Director of Enrollment. Her total time with the tribe was 37 years.Along with her employment, Pee Wee was very active in the community. She was on the original board that helped build the communitys swimming pool, after a young mans tragic drowning in a river. Pee Wee was active in Scouting; was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, and participated in Native American Scouting on a national level. She was a School Board Member of Brownings School District for 13 years; being the second woman to serve up to that time, and served as Vice Chairperson for a period of those years. Pee Wees greatest joy was to be able to hand all three of her children their high school diplomas. She was the sole organizer of her high schools class reunions; a total of five with the last being their 40th in 1998. She also became active via Facebook in causes such as Anti-Fracking, Protecting Chief Mountain and Idle No More.Pee Wees favorite activity was to be able to travel. She loved to visit new places as well as visit her children and relatives in the many states and provinces in which they lived. Las Vegas and the slots, Seattle and Pike Place Market were her favorite places. She also had the gift of shopping; looking for the best bargains.Pee Wee is survived by her husband, Don of Browning; daughter Dawn (Ray) Magee-Cobell of Wapato, WA; sons Darren (Faron) of Browning and Dustin of Las Vegas; grandson Dan Gilham of Browning; eight siblings, Mona Matthews of Browning, Johnel Tailfeathers of Cardston, Alberta, Canada, Wayne Higgins of WI, Mary Edmo of Browning, Patty Latray of Cut Bank, Laurie Marso, Jim Higgins and Kathleen Bullcalf all of Browning.Pee Wee was the matriarch of her family. She never hesitated to be there for her numerous family members, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. She also treasured the many lifelong friends that she had both near and far. In her retired years, Pee Wee excelled in creating many new friendships as well as a huge following on Facebook. She was always a positive and strong woman.At her request, cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will be at the family residence beginning each day from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10 and funeral services at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11; both at the Little Flower Parish Catholic Church in Browning, MT. Leopard print attire would be encouraged. Burial of ashes will take place in the spring at Willow Creek Cemetery.
