Jean VanDenBos, age 94, passed away of natural causes February 19, 2017.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at First United Methodist Church; 610 2nd Ave. N., Great Falls, MT.Zelda Jean Pitkin was born November 9, 1922 in Eureka, CA to William and Lucille (Gray) Pitkin. They moved to Coburg, OR when she was a baby. She began school in Tacoma, WA, returning to Coburg to complete her education. She married Forrest Ervin VanDenBos on August 1, 1941 in Coburg. The couple moved to Pocatello, ID in 1948 and to Great Falls, MT in 1956.Jean worked 26 years in several medical offices as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1987. She volunteered over 1000 hours with the Scottish Rite Language Center. She served on boards and committees that advocated for people with developmental disabilities.Jean was a long time member of the Methodist Church, Sapphira Temple 79, Daughters of the Nile and Olive Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.Survivors include daughters Diana Frank of Great Falls, Linda (Lee) Chambers of Helena and Kathy (Ron) Loudermilk of Arvada, CO; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, F.E. Dutch VanDenBos; daughter Christine Marie VanDenBos; two infant sons; her parents; and four siblings.Memorials are suggested to Scottish Rite Language Center, 1304 13th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405 or Big Sandy Activities, 142 Great Northern Ave, Big Sandy, MT 59520.
