Winifred Naughton, 96, of Great Falls, died on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at her residence of pancreatic cancer.A vigil will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012. A funeral liturgy will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Winnie was born on January 7, 1916, to Frank and Sarah Haley. She was raised in Cascade and graduated from Cascade High School. After graduation she married Richard, and they spent the next seven years at New Deal where Richard worked on the Fort Peck Dam. They then moved to Great Falls where they remained and raised their seven children.Winnie was an active volunteer at St Gerard's Church from the inception of the parish until its closing. She worked several years for the Great Falls School District as a library aide, was an avid reader and a real student of current events right to the end. Winnie was active in several bridge clubs over the years and was always ready for a game. Traveling was something Winnie enjoyed and her trip to Ireland was a highlight. Winnie's greatest love in life was being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.Winnie is survived by her children Patsy (Joe) Minnehan, Jim (Paula) Naughton, Jack (Doreen) Naughton, Jeanie (Dick) Hanson, and June (Mark) Lyons, grandchildren Kathleen Naughton, Michael Naughton, Kerrie Stavig, Tom Naughton, Doug Henley, Michele Schott, Tim Minnehan, Kelly Minnnehan-Galt, Molly Ketchum, Haley Minnehan-Secrest, Dan Naughton, Jill Vogt, Jeff Naughton, Patrick Hanson, Meghan Hanson, Kevin Lyons, Katie Pierce, and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Naughton, children Dick Naughton and Mary Clise.We will always remember Winnie for her kindness and strength of character.Memorial gifts may be sent to Peace Hospice of Montana, 1101 26th Street South, Great Falls, MT 59405.
