William Neuman

William “Bill” Neuman, 95 years, 11 months and 25 days, of Power, MT passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Peace Hospice in Great Falls. Bill was born December 22, 1921 on the family homestead south east of Power to Julius and Emily Neuman. He attended Hevron School till the eighth grade and then focused on working the family’s farm. Bill loved dancing as much as farming and ranching, so when Saturday night rolled around he was off to Fort Shaw, where he met Dorothy Woods, his wife of 73 years. At the age of 19 years old, Bill was tired of eating dust and the hot winds, so he built an enclosed cab with windows for his tractor. Neighbors were so impressed they all started building their own. He was innovative on the farm and used that skill as a director of the 1st Westside National bank for 25 years. He liked to hunt and fish but had a passion for bowling. He started bowing at the Falls Alleys, Little Lanes and then in his later years bowled at the Elks Club. Bill and Dorothy liked to travel when they could and after retiring from farming, they spent several winters in Mesquite, NV where he enjoyed golfing. Moving to Great Falls in 1992 allowed Bill a more relaxed lifestyle but he was still on his riding lawnmower at the age of 90. Bill is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughters Bonnie (Bill) Poser of Conrad, MT and Linda (Dennis) Buscher of Billings, MT; son Skip (Collette) Neuman of Power, MT; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Mark; sisters Elsie LeFebvre, Marie Dahlman, Alma Keister, Marguerite Somerfeld; and brother Chuck Neuman. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
