William D. Bill Morris, 73, passed away in Great Falls on August 13, 2017 of natural causes.A vigil service will take place Thursday, August 17, at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 201 44th St. South. Funeral liturgy will take place on Friday, August 18, at 11:00 a.m., also at Holy Spirit. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Bill was born at home in Butte, MT on July 21, 1944. He was the 13th child of Thomas and Ethel (Lewis) Morris. Bill grew up in Butte, graduating from Boys Central in 1962. He attended Western Montana College on a full scholarship for two years. In 1966, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a stenographer for three years. His service involved postings at several bases across the United States.Bill moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1969 and began working for Sachs Lawlor as an office products salesman. While in Denver, he met a Montana girl who would put up with his shenanigans, Connie Jeanne Moore. They married in 1975 in Great Falls. Bill and Connie made their home in Denver for three years and then decided they wanted to get back to Gods country. They moved to Great Falls in 1978. Bill went to work for the Internal Revenue Service as a taxpayer advisor. He later advanced to revenue agent for the IRS until his retirement in 2004.Bill and Connie shared a lifetime love of sports. They were both avid golfers and enjoyed playing golf courses across America. They also toured courses in Ireland and Scotland. Even after their relocation from Denver, Bill and Connie held season tickets for the Denver Broncos. After a few years, they gave up their seats but still followed the Broncos and Bills beloved 49ers.In retirement, Bill and Connie enjoyed trips to Nevada and family gatherings in Montana. In 2005, Bill suffered a stroke that left him largely incapacitatedbut still able to enjoy a few gaming machines.Bill is survived by his wife, Connie, who guided and cared for him over the last several years. Other surviving family members include sisters Dorothy Salo of Brier, WA and Judy (Charles) Cannon of Couer dAlene, ID; 71 nieces and nephews and oodles of greats and great-greats.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Cliff, Bernie, Everett, Tom, Edward Tiny, Wilbur Punky, and Mike; and sisters Irene, Dolores, Anna Louise, and Jean.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Great Falls Food Bank or Butte Central Education Foundation (Class of 1962 Scholarship).
