William "Bill" Wesley Gue

May 7, 1933 — October 5, 2024

William “Bill” Wesley Gue, aged 91, left peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in Great Falls, MT surrounded by his family.

Bill was born on May 7, 1933, in Fairview, MT to Wesley and Evelyn (Johnson) Gue.

Bill was an exceptional athlete, lettering each year at Great Falls High School in Football, Basketball, and Track & Field. In college, at the University of Montana in Missoula, he was an outstanding running back for the Grizzlies. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration. While at the University of Montana, Bill met the love of his life, Adrienne Borchers. They married on April 27, 1957, and celebrated 64 years together until Adrienne passed away in 2021.

Bill and Adrienne moved to Chicago, IL after their marriage and completion of Bill’s US Army service commitment. After a couple of years, they moved back to Montana to raise their family. Bill worked for the Gateway Lumber Co., Equitable Life Insurance, and he retired after working 30 years at The Cogswell Agency, where he served as the Personal Insurance Manager.

Bill lived a life of volunteering and service for the Lions Club, YMCA, Great Falls High Track & Field, Road Runners Club, The History Museum, and the Great Falls Ad Club, fundraising for the Charles M. Russell Museum.

Golf became a hobby and a passion! He was a member of the Meadowlark Country Club for over 50 years. He loved watching Great Falls High football and was a lifetime University of Montana Grizzly Football season ticket holder. Bill and Adrienne traveled together at every opportunity. They traveled to multiple summer Olympic games around the world, and to Italy with friends to attend their son’s ordination at the Vatican. They also traveled around the United States and Canada in their motorhome and frequently took the four grandchildren on “Cousin Camp” trips to show them the beauty of Montana and to foster close relationships. He created many photo albums to commemorate almost every event and trip. In retirement, genealogy became his pastime.

Bill is survived by his sister, Betty Nicholson; daughters, Leslie (Doug) Taylor and Andrea Skites; son, Scott (Melissa) Gue; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews who loved Uncle Bill… as well as a multitude of friends.
