Wilbur Marshall, 88, of Great Falls, suddenly left to ride horse in greener pastures January 7, 2016.Wilbur was born September 24, 1927 in Wolf Point, MT to Wilbur Web Marshall and Lovie (Steele) Marshall. He was raised on the family farm and attended school in the Nickwall community. At 16, he started work for various farmers and ranchers in the area until drafted in the Army Engineers during the Korean conflict and was stationed at Panama Canal. After discharge, he returned to Wolf Point, marrying Viola Crause December 12, 1954. He worked for the city of Wolf Point until 1966 returning to the passion of his life, farming and ranching for Joe Heser, as well as his own family farm. After Violas death in 1987, he retired and moved to Great Falls, MT to be closer to family.Wilbur was an old fashion country boy, calm, quiet spoken and never said a harsh word of others. His life-long special talent and patience with horses made him well appreciated by other horsemen. After moving to Great Falls, the lure of country life called and he befriended Bob Hines, proprietor of the OK Corrals. This was right up his alley. He drove daily, for over 25 years, to visit Bob and work with the horses.In 1990, he met Georgene Gigi Judge and found a companion in her attending art shows and his other passions in life, rodeos, and country western dances until her passing in 2013.Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and mother in law Eva Crause.He is survived by sons Mike of Stockett, MT, Doug of Libby MT and Glen of Sioux City, IA; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and brother James of Newman Lake, IDEulogy will be performed Thursday January 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church in Great Falls with Pastor Louis Belcher, Cowboys and Horsemen for Christ. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in Wolf Point, MT.
