Walter "Sonny" Kelly

Walter T. Sonny Kelly, 94, of Great Falls, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Northwest Family Fellowship followed by burial at Highland Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Walter was born on October 13, 1921 in Billings, Montana to Thomas and Ethel (Clark) Kelly. He worked at various ranches. Walter married Margaret Goldhahn and they had two children. They later divorced. Walter entered the Army during WWII and served in South Korea for 2 years. After his discharge, he moved to Great Falls and went to work at the Anaconda Company as a forklift operator in the wire mill. Walter married Lydia Koenig in Great Falls on September 9, 1949, she passed away in 2008. Walter retired in 1981.Walter was a life member of the Elks Lodge, VFW and Northwest Family Fellowship.Walter leaves behind his daughter, Mary (Tony) Gentile of Albuquerque; 3 step-children; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and special friend, Margaret Goyette.He was preceded in death by his parents; son George Kelly, sister Helen Norman; and wife, Lydia.
