Von V. Rardon, 87, of Great Falls, passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 2, 2016.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Von was born on April 9, 1928 in Rolla, North Dakota to William and Pearl (Nelson) Rardon. He grew up on a farm in Rolla and met Lavonne in 1949. They were married on October 28, 1950 in Leeds, North Dakota. They were married for 65 years.He started working for the Great Northern Railroad at the age of 16 for 10 years in North Dakota. He moved to Great Falls in 1953, where they raised their family. He went to work for the Anaconda Company, and was with them for 10 years before moving on to construction.Von was a long time member of the Eagles. He loved fishing on Holter Lake and hunting in the Montana wilderness. He still found time to work on his cars, a true Jack of all Trades, never afraid of trying something new. He loved horses throughout his life teaching his children how to ride and care for them as well.He was greatly loved and will be missed by all that knew him.Von is survived by his wife, Lavonne Rardon of Great Falls; son Rick (Marlys) Rardon of Great Falls; daughter Beverly (Ray) Rardon of London, KY; brother Clinton (Mary) Rardon of Lincoln, NB; sister Arlus Weston of Brookston, IN, Allura Schoephorster of Lodi, WI, Colleen Brown of Marlo, OK, Linda Bacon of Spokane, WA, Elaine (Tony) Villeburn, and Alvina (Dick) Sullivan both of Great Falls; grandchildren Brandi, Rick, Craig, Terri, Melissa, Trisha, Rusty, Georgie, Randy, James, and Melina; and 25 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; son Garry Rardon; grandson Travis Rardon; brothers Dwaine Rardon, Loran Rardon, Melvin Rardon, and John Rardon; and sisters Dorothy Roy, Lois DeCoeteru, and Opal Krogfross.
