Virginia Mae (Kuehne) Tolan, 77, of Great Falls, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016, of cancer.A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Virginia was born in Wolf Point on November 10, 1938 to Paul and Clovie Kuehne. She graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1957. She married Jack Tolan that year and they moved to Great Falls. There, she worked for 1st National Bank and later Montana Bank in business accounts. She began keeping books for the local Chevron Distributor in 1968. In 1971, when Jack became a Commissioned Agent for Chevron Oil Inc., she kept books for him. With her good business acumen helping build a successful business, she later served as Secretary-Treasurer when they formed Tolan Distributing Inc. as a Jobber for Chevron USA Inc.Virginia was a foster mother to seven foster children who she thought of over the years. She enjoyed gardening with her husband: Virginia growing flowers and Jack growing vegetables. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to San Francisco, Acapulco, Seattle, Honolulu, and Bermuda. Virginia enjoyed music and played the accordion, pump organ and piano. She passed on her love of music and playing instruments to her children and attended all of their concerts. She was proud that all three of her children are college graduates and made it to all their college graduations. Virginia and her husband were long time members of FOE enjoying dancing, meeting with friends, and attending family events through the years. Virginia, with her husband, was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, seeing their two sons on to becoming Life Scout and Eagle Scout.Virginia is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack; her three children, Desiree Tolan, Derrick Tolan, and Darron (MaryBeth) Tolan; grandchildren Daniel Wimberly, Matthew (Sydney) Wimberly, Stephen Swindle, Emma Tolan and Isaac Tolan all of Great Falls, Gabriella Tolan, and Garrett Tolan of Brush, CO; two great grandchildren, Joslyn Wimberly of Spokane, WA and McKenna Wimberly of Great Falls; mother Clovie Kuehne; sister Doris (Frankie) Whitmus of Wolf Point; and brother Jerry (Raema) Kuehne of Mesa, AZ.She is preceded in death by her father, Paul Kuehne; brothers Loyd Kuehne and Leonard Kuehne; and sister Carol Rensvold.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the following: David Hunter Memorial Music Scholarship Fund through CMR High School; Childrens Receiving Home; or Paris Gibson Square artist in residence.
