Viola Stewart

Viola J. Stewart went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 1, 2017 at 88 years of age.Viola was born on May 12, 1929 in Scobey, Montana. Her family then moved to Great Falls, where Viola attended and graduated from Great Falls High School. She then attended Montana State University and was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. After two years of college, she moved to southern California. There she met and married Donald Stewart. They had two children. After several moves, Viola and family settled back in Great Falls, where she lived for the rest of her life. Viola and Don divorced in 1974.Vi worked as a legal secretary and later as the secretary for the maintenance department at Columbus Hospital. In retirement, she served for many years as a Foster Grandma at Morningside Elementary and at Head Start. Viola loved to travel, and played darts competitively in a local league. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and loved her family with all of her heart. She was a woman of great Christian faith, and was a source of strength and support to both family and friends.Viola was preceded in death by parents, Harry and Marguerite Hagfeldt; sister Charlotte Tietjen; brother-in-law Robert Tietjen; and grandson Ryan Dibble.She is survived by her children Kevin (Bonnie) Stewart and Lisa (Dennis) Devine; grandchildren Justin (Casey) Lewis, Kelly Lewis, Joe Devine, Mike (Shawn-Marie) Aiken, Heather Aiken, and Yuko Dibble; and great-grandchildren Nikki Aiken, Kevin Aiken, Alex Aiken, Noah Kohut, Joshua Kohut, Josiah Grant and Yuna Dibble.Mom, we love you and miss you more than words can say. We look forward to that day when we will see you again in heaven.Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Schnider Funeral Home with a private service to follow.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Benefis Peace Hospice of Montana.
