Vickey Kraunter

Cascade – Vickey Idella (Baker) Krautner was born in Great Falls on April 7, 1945 and passed in her sleep on August 21, 2018 at home in Castner Falls. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 30 at 10:00 am at the Church of the Incarnation, 600 3rd Ave N, Great Falls with reception to follow at the Great Falls Masonic Temple, 821 Central Ave. Private Interment will be held later in the day. Vickey was born in Great Falls on April 7, 1945 to James and Margaretha Baker.Her first 3 years of school were in a one room school house in Castner Falls. She graduated from Cascade High School in 1963. After high school, she completed beauty school and worked for a short time in Shelby before moving to Great Falls. While living at the YWCA, she worked for the Paris Department Store selling wigs. She met Robert Krautner on a blind date December 31, 1966 and they were married June 16, 1967. They had one child, Stacey (Krautner) Corcino born in 1970. Bob was her soulmate and love of her life. They traveled the world on Uncle Sam’s dime! (Her words not mine!) Their duty stations included: Texas, New York, Alaska, Colorado, England and Mississippi. The family moved back to the family farm outside of Cascade in 1982 after Bob retired from the Air Force. She was a member of the International Order of Job’s Daughters when she was younger. A 50 + year member of Cascade Chapter #101 Order of the Eastern Star where she has been Secretary for 25 + years. Member and volunteer with Great Falls Genealogy Society. She was an avid beader, reader and “finder of dead people.”And that is in her words!She loved visiting with friends and staying long enough to close the restaurant. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Krautner and parents James and Margaretha Baker. Survivors include daughter Stacey (Jack) Corcino of Great Falls; brother Roger (Marcia) Baker of Butte; nieces Hana (Mike) Ciembronowicz and their three children, Fritz, Oliver and Elsa of Colorado, Heidi (Brady) Frederick and their three children, Elizabeth, Elias, Elim of Stuttgart, Germany.
