Vernon Dean Severson

August 25, 1936 — March 8, 2021

Vernon Dean Severson, 84, went to be with our Lord on Monday, March 8, 2021, while at Peace Hospice. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Faith Lutheran Church and will be announced. Vernon was born in Scobey, Montana to George and Ruth Severson, the second of five children. He grew up on the family farm loving horses and farming, and he was a true cowboy. He graduated from Plentywood High School in 1955. On June 30, 1957, he married the love of his life, Lorraine Jensen. During the time their six children were born, Vernon attended carpentry school in Minnesota, served his country in the Army, sold insurance, and then began his own construction company which was his passion. Because of his eye for detail and dedication to perfection, Vern Severson Construction never needed advertisement. Vernon and Lorraine enjoyed many vacations with family and friends, including Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, Medora, and a favorite of his, the Pro Rodeo Finals in Vegas. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Sunrise Lions Club. A few of his favorite activities were fishing, hunting, camping, and playing games and cards, all of these with his children and grandchildren. Vernon was quick to make friends and was loved and adored by all who met him. He greeted everyone with a cheerful smile and a warm handshake. He will be missed by many. When returning home from all of our many adventures, dad would always tell us, “Thank the Good Lord for a safe trip home.” Through our sadness and tears we now thank the Good Lord for taking our dad safely home. His loved ones who preceded him in death include his parents; and brothers, Norman, Ronnie, and Marvin. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage; children, Mike (Kae), Kelly Jackson, Matt (Shelly), Marty (Danita), Mark (Amy), and Karlene (Greg) Schraner; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, The Sunrise Lions Club, or Peace Hospice.
