Tyson Nimmick

April 10, 1981 — December 31, 2011

Tyson James Nimmick, 30, of Great Falls an architect, died on December 31st in Great Falls.A funeral service will be held on Friday January 6, 2012 at 11:00 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel followed by private interment at Highland Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Tyson was born April 10, 1981 in Great Falls, MT to Brad and Peg Nimmick. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 2000 and from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design in 2006. Tyson worked at Axolotl Design in Bozeman, MT and MCL Architects in Saint Paul, MN. With the decline in the building industry, Ty came back to Montana and moved to Kalispell and since October of 2010 lived at his condo in Great Falls. He was most recently employed at Frielings Agricultural Equipment in a job he dearly loved. He got to work with people he thought the world of and who thoroughly enjoyed working with him. He also worked with his dad in their business pursuits. His help, encouragement and exuberance were instrumental in the success of the businesses and he was looking forward to expanding and playing a lead role in their continued success. He was also looking forward to pursuing his Masters degree in architecture with an emphasis in web design at MSU Bozeman.Tyson had a long battle with extreme depression and alcoholism. He was involved in AA, Celebrate Recovery and Faith Center Church. He had many supportive friends in these organizations and was committed to helping others in the groups as much as he benefited from them.Tyson was blessed with great intellect, natural athletic ability and a wonderful sense of humor. He was a talented artist and designer. His design won the competition for the citys new military entryway sign which is now located at the east end of 10th Avenue South. Tyson was also adept at expressing himself through prose and was a gifted writer. He loved his family, his girlfriend Jennifer and his rescue cat Eva. Tyson and Jennifer had many memorable days together biking the trail, touring the history of Fort Benton, attending the folk festival in Butte and enjoying the fourth of July fireworks on Huckleberry Hill at his parents home. Tysons caring nature and love of his family drew Jennifer to him. He especially loved his sisters and his nephews. He was a friend and mentor to his eldest nephew while still being a goofy, spirited playmate with the youngest three. Tyson and his sisters were always laughing and looking for the next best wisecrack or ways to one up one another during their times together. He was fun to be around. When Tyson was up, everybody was up. His big laugh and quick wit made others feel so good. He was said to have a poets soul. His kindness, willingness to help anyone and love for animals will be remembered always. He was well liked at Cambridge Place where he, Jennifer and his parents would often dine with his grandparents.Tyson fought his depression and alcoholism for far too long. He was very private about these times and people were always surprised about this side of him. Treatments, medications, setting boundaries and loving care were never enough to ultimately save him.His last day was spent working with his dad, followed by a loving and lengthy conversation with his parents and a late night dinner together at Macaroni Grill. Tyson chose to take his own life on New Years Eve at the home of his parents. We feel that he could not bear the thought of facing the New Year battling the depression and addiction. He died sober.Tyson is survived by his parents, Peg and Brad Nimmick of Great Falls; his sister Jennifer Nimmick and her son Braxton of Kalispell, his sister Britne Stimac, her husband Blaine and their sons Parker, Boston and Silas of Kalispell; his Grandmother Miriam Weitz of Great Falls; and his girlfriend Jennifer Reichelt of Great Falls. He is also survived by and will be missed by uncles, aunts, cousins and great friends who have stuck by him all these years. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Esther Nimmick, Grandfather Fred Nimmick and Grandfather Jim Weitz with whom he had a special relationship and who Tyson was with when Grandpa Jim died this past September 11th. Tyson experienced immense grief from this loss.Tyson will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is now at peace as he continues in his walk with Christ.Memorials are suggested to Great Falls Animal Shelter 1010 25th Avenue NE, Great Falls, MT, 59404 or the Rivers Edge Trail, P.O Box 553, Great Falls, Mt 59403.
