Thomas Tom Romanchuk, 91, of Great Falls, died of natural causes on Sunday, February 10, 2013.A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Tom grew up in a large family in Sand Coulee.He served in the Army during World War II and then began a career with the Anaconda Company.Not long after that, he met and married Dorothy Carrell, whom he shared 51 loving years before losing her to cancer in 2001.He worked multiple jobs to provide for his family of eight. Toms craftsman skills allowed him to finish off many basements in the Great Falls area.He also worked for the Great Falls Transfer.His career with the Anaconda Co. took him to the city of Anaconda where he helped to get the Arbiter up and running.He eventually retired and returned to Great Falls.Tom loved camping, fishing, gardening, music, and babies.He and Dorothy opened up their home to numerous foster children where he nicknamed all of the babies little Joe.He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (Jerry) Hoeft of Seattle, WA and Jeryl (Arlo) Adams of Deer Lodge; sons, Patrick (Jennifer) Romanchuk of Geraldine, Timothy Romanchuk of Homer, AK, and Robert (Tracie) Romanchuk of Anchor Point, AK; a sister, Julie Witham of Great Falls; brothers, Mick (Ty) Romanchuk of Great Falls and Pete Romanchuk of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Jaime (Geno) Valentini, Kristoffer (Danelle) Adams, Travis Hoeft, Kelly Hoeft, Keith Kelly, Korey Romanchuk, Christine Romanchuk, Jacquie (Paul) White, Caroline (Steve) Royston, and Dave(Karen) McQuade; and great-grandchildren, Aliyah Valentini, Grady Valentini, Kherington Smith, Faith Kelly, Serenity Kelly, Keira White, Alice White, Molly McQuade, Ben McQuade, and Alex Royston.Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Romanchuk; son, James Romanchuk; parents, Pete and Margaret Romanchuk; sisters, Evelyn Broquist and Lois Romanchuk; and brothers, Jerry and Jack Romanchuk.Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
