Thomas Ray Monts, 61, passed away June 6, 2015 from complications of pneumonia.Tom was born May 4, 1954 at Malmstrom Air Force Base to Tillie and Walter Monts, Sr. Tom was challenged with being developmentally disabled but always faced life with great courage. In June of 1960, after his mothers death, he was sent to live in Warm Springs, MT. In July 1963, he moved to Boulder River School and Hospital where he lived until 1976 when he transferred to a Group Home in Cut Bank, MT. In 1984, he moved back to Great Falls where he spent his remaining years in the care of Quality Life Concepts. At the time of his death he was residing at the Hansen Group Home.Tom loved music, church, dancing and traveling to family events. He had a joyful and sweet disposition, and was a favorite with his caregivers. He could often be found outside on his swing enjoying the sunshine and listening to his country music. Tom enjoyed working at Easter Seals where he would shred paper and help with pickups on delivery trucks. His routine was very important to him.He was preceded in death by his parents.Tom is survived by his siblings, Donald (Patt) Monts of Henderson, NV, Wayne (Mary Ann) Monts of Black Diamond, WA, Sidney Monts of Marysville, WA, Patricia (Pat) McGree of Butte, MT, and Walter Monts Jr. of Bozeman MT, and their families.The family wishes to express sincere thanks to all those who cared about and for our brother over the years. The community was very welcoming and supportive of him and he was known far and wide. We would like to give special thanks to Quality Life Concepts, the staff at Hansen House, Easter Seals, HI Case Management, US Bank Private Group, Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Peace Hospice and all of the medical providers who cared for Tom. Your professionalism, respect, love and caring enhanced Toms life and provided him with dignity and enjoyment.Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Schnider Funeral Home on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 2:00 PM.
