Ted Martin Lorenz

February 2, 1942 — September 15, 2018

Ted Martin Lorenz, age 76, passed away on September 15 due to complications of a rare brain disorder, PSP. He passed away at Peace Hospice surrounded by his family's love. Ted was born in 1942 to Jack and Gert Lorenz. He grew up in various parts of Montana as his family followed his father's career with the state highway department. He was educated in Bozeman and Helena, and graduated from high school in Philipsburg. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Montana State University, and later, a Master's degree from Webster University. Ted joined the Army in 1968 and spent the next 20 years proudly serving his country. He served in Vietnam, where he was awarded a bronze star. He married Betty (Immonen) in 1970 and they lived the Army life until he retired from service as a Major in 1988. Ted completed various jobs after that, and proudly volunteered for multiple organizations in Great Falls. He was most proud of his work with the Montana Veterans Memorial and visited it every Sunday, up until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Kim Lorenz of Caldwell, Idaho; Mike and Erin Lorenz of Three Forks, Montana; and daughter and son-in-law Lindsey and Joe Miller of Bozeman, Montana. He has 5 grandchildren, Carson, Piper, and Bridget Lorenz of Caldwell, Harper and Lennon Lorenz of Three Forks, and baby girl Miller (expecting) of Bozeman, Montana. He leaves behind his beloved sister, Debbie (Gary) Kahn of Lumberton, New Jersey; his brother-in-law Bill (Wilma) Immonen of Butte; and sister-in-law Nel Lorenz of Huachuca City, Arizona; and nephews, nieces, and cousins. Ted always had a ready smile and a warm handshake and will be forever missed by his family. Military services will be held at a later date at Fort Harrison, Montana. Memorial donations to Peace Hospice or the Montana Veteran's Memorial are suggested.
