Sylvia R. Lanham

Sylvia R. Lanham, 86, of Great Falls, died of natural causes on Monday, January 11, 2016.A memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 3809 6th Ave S. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Sylvia was born July 7, 1929 in Owego, New York, the daughter of John and Florence Chandler. She graduated from high school in Owego in 1947, and in 1953 received her degree from the Baptist Missionary Training School (now part of Colgate-Rochester Divinity School) in Chicago.On August 5, 1955, she married Orville E. Lanham. They lived in White Sulphur Springs, Montana where Orville served as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. They also lived in Bozeman, Birmingham, Pennsylvania; Brookings, South Dakota; and Bellevue, Nebraska. Orville died in 2008. In 2013, Sylvia moved to Great Falls.She is survived by her daughter Susan of Victor, New York, her son-in-law John, and granddaughter Sarah; son Tim of Great Falls and her daughter-in-law Gigi; son Mark of Brooklyn, New York; her daughter Helen of Las Vegas, Nevada and her son-in-law Jonathan Strand.Donations are suggested to Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 3809 6th Ave S, Great Falls, MT 59405; Intermountain Children's Home, 500 S Lamborn, Helena, MT 59601; or Glacier Presbyterian Center Camp Scholarship fund, 17482 O'Neil Rd, Lakeside, MT 59922.Her family would like to thank the staff of Benefis Senior Care for the outstanding care they provided Sylvia during her last years.
