Steven George Konesky, 73, of Great Falls, Montana, a retired hydro-maintenance worker for Montana Power Company, died on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Carson Tahoe hospital of natural causes.Cremation has taken place in Carson City, NV.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel.A private family inurnment will take place at Highland Cemetery at a later date. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Steven was born on July 10, 1938 to Stephen and Margaret Konesky in Great Falls, MT.He was raised and attended school in Stockett, MT.He studied Geology at Northern Montana College in Havre, Montana.Steven met Donna Butler and they were married in 1966 in Pasco, WA.He worked for Lewis Construction and the Montana Power Company from 1969 to 1999 when he retired.He was a 50 year member of the I.B.E.W. and a member of the First Catholic Slovak Union of the U.S. and Canada.His hobbies included mining, metal detecting, prospecting, watching Canadian television, polka music, playing his accordion and harmonica, going to second hand stores and looking for a great deal, especially enjoyed traveling to Butte for St. Patricks day festivities, and loved spending time with his grandkids.Steven had a love for birds and the outdoors that he and Donna passed on to their children and grandchildren.He also enjoyed traveling to Nevada to see his daughter, stopping at every unique shop on the way.Steven was a very kind and compassionate man that would stop to help anyone in need.Steven is survived by his daughters, Shannon (Mike) Smith of Great Falls and Elizabeth (Maury) Reichelt of Carson City, NV; a son, Stephen B. (Deana) Konesky of Cascade; a brother, Vince (Pearl) Konesky of Surprise, AZ; and his grandchildren, Breanne, Logan, Reid, Seth, Claire, Rowan and Wrenley.He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Donna Konesky.Condolences may be left for the family at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
