Stanley Kempa, 81, of Great Falls, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014 after a short illness.At Stans request no services are planned. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.He was born November 12, 1932 in Great Falls. He attended Great Falls High School and went on to enlist in the Navy and proudly served on the aircraft carriers FDR and Siboney as a machinist during the Korean War era. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he served a plumbing apprenticeship and worked as a licensed plumber until retirement.Stan had a passion for horse racing at a young age, starting out as a jockey and later owning and training a race horse. Both he and his wife enjoyed motorcycles, travel, golf and spending time with family. Hunting and fishing were hobbies he enjoyed throughout his life.He is survived by his daughter Sonja Nelson; brother Daniel (Rene) Kempa and sister Dorothy Phillippe both of Great Falls; step-daughters, Diane Luraas, Connie Bloom, and Debra Houseman; grandson Daniel Nelson; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law and close friend Dolores Gorny. Stan was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; parents, John and Angeline Kempa; brothers, Joseph and Bernard as babies, George, Frankie, Bernie, and Bill; sisters Helen Popiel and Rosie Speasock.Memorials may be made to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
