Sonia "Soni" Silvan

May 6, 1953 — August 9, 2015

Sonia Sciuchetti Silvan Soni, 62 of Big Sandy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Sunday August 9, 2015 following complications from an extended illness which she courageously battled for over 10 years.A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in Big Sandy at the Methodist Church. Sonia would have preferred that all of her family and friends celebrate her life by wearing her favorite color yellow or brightly colored clothing and not black. A reception will follow at Peps Bar.Sonia has been married to her loving husband Wayne for over 36 years. They enjoyed fishing, tractor pulling in Canada and Montana, taking trips to Canada with her family, watching sitcoms and harvesting together. Sonia said, loved being married to my husband Wayne, he was such a sweet loving husband.Sonia lived for her girls, she states they were her everything and the loves of my life. She followed her girls to every event while in school and continues to support each of them in their life endeavors. We couldnt have asked for a more loving, caring, supportive and courageous mom.Her grandsons Jaxton and Jolten were her heart and soul. As tired as mom may have been, she still made it a priority to see her grandsons whenever she could. One of her favorite things to do was to kiss their toes.Family was so important to mom. As of often as our schedules would allow in January, we would celebrate the Sciuchetti Italian Christmas along with mom having her favorite meal, polenta stew. Mom loved embracing her Italian heritage. She visited her fathers homeland Villa di Chiavenna, Italy two times. Mom also considered her lifelong friend Becky Alexander family. She really enjoyed visiting, reminiscing and gambling with Miss Becky Suzanne.Mom worked 26 years at the Big Sandy Conservation District and her last five years she worked for the USPS as a rural route carrier which she thoroughly enjoyed. Mom loved pinochle, her horse Stormy and pony BB, dog Jazzy, country concerts, photography, rock hunting, hot tubing and antiques. Finally, mom was the most loving and caring person we have ever known. She was always willing to lend a hand, while putting everyone first over herself.Sonia is survived by her husband, Wayne Silvan of Big Sandy; daughters Jenny (Jeremy); grandsons Jaxton and Jolten Marn, Amy (Ted) Holmlund; siblings Jean Maedche, Lou Emacio(Ken Price)Sciuchetti, David(Linda)Sciuchetti , Penny(Joe)Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend from childhood, Becky Alexander. She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and dear friend Melissa Jamieson.Sonia would have wanted any memorial donations given to a caring cause. Our family has selected Thelma Mae Briney as the recipient of any memorial donation in honor of our mom to help this little girl fight and overcome cancer.
