Sharon Sevalstad

February 10, 1959 — November 20, 2013

Sharon (Velock) Sevalstad passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Black Eagle Community Center. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Sharon was born to Frank and Marylou Velock on February 10, 1959 in Great Falls, MT. Sharon attended Great Falls "public" Schools and graduated from Charles M. Russell High School in 1977. Sharon was an incredible sister, and always the strength and backbone to her brother and sisters. An unstoppable woman with an unbelievable work ethic, no matter the situation, Sharon was always there to lend a helping hand.Growing up and especially after high school, horse racing always played an important role in Sharons life. In the spring of 1978, Sharon met the love of her life, Ken Sevalstad, when they both began training race horses for Richard and Jeanie Bower. From then on, they were inseparable. In the short time of meeting each other, they trained many great horses, including Son of Harpo. On November 25, 1978, Sharon and Ken married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Great Falls. They then went on to train horses side by side for many more years.Sharon and Ken began a beautiful family together when their son, Kenny was born in 1980, followed by their son, Kory in 1983. Their two boys were the pride and joy of Sharons life.Sharon went on to manage several restaurants and hotels throughout Montana, and did an incredible job at doing so. Her most recent place of employment was managing several Taco Treat locations. She had a passion for management, and although deserving of time off for working so hard and tirelessly, it was nearly impossible to talk her into taking a day off.Going to see a movie with Ken, family gatherings with always too much food, going to horse races, and relaxing at the lake were some of her favorite things, but most of all, she loved being a mother and grandmother. She recently had the honor of going with her family to Disneyland one last time. Words could never explain how much this trip meant to her.Her strength, courage, and endless care for loved ones will be so greatly missed.Sharon is survived by her husband, Ken Sevalstad; her children, Kenny and Kory Sevalstad; grandchildren Kaden, Hannah, and KallieAnn; brother Frank Velock; sisters Mary (Mark) Liggett, Sandy (Chuck) Noble, and Lori Velock; father-in-law Bud (Marla) Sevalstad; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Velock; her mother, Marylou (Velock) Menges; and mother-in-law Betty Sevalstad. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Martin and his staff, the entire staff of the sixth floor of Benefis for their extensive care and compassion to Sharon, and also to John Enott for his friendship and constant support. In honor of Sharon, the family suggests memorials to the Great Falls Turf Club, In Memory of Sharon Sevalstad, P.O.
