Sharie Jann Dorrington, 56, of Great Falls, passed away on December 31, 2015 after a life-long struggle with complications from type 1 diabetes.At her request, there are no services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Sharie was born in Great Falls on January 3, 1959 to John Stafford Dorrington and Harriet L. (Corrie) Dorrington, the third of three children. She was raised in Great Falls, graduated from Great Falls High School and attended the University of Montana. Returning to Great Falls, she worked for Consumers Press, Prairie Star and Northern Directory Publishing.Sharie was a member of the Episcopal Church and Great Falls Camera Club. In her younger years, her interests and activities included golf, racquetball, rope climbing, baseball and hiking. She enjoyed water fights with her nephews and her athletic quickness became legendary in her family when she hand caught a robin in flight. She was an accomplished photographer, including her work in several mediums of video productions, family albums and journals. Sharie loved traveling, with her favorite destinations being Glacier Park, Seattle, Alberta and British Columbia. She particularly cherished her trip to England with her father.Sharie was a prolific seamstress, having a keen sense of fashion, making clothes for her niece and nephews throughout their early years. She and her sister, Corrie, made countless dolls and her skills at crafts, including her drawing, painting and fabric art, were second to none. Her incredible creativity inspired others to find and develop their own artistic talent.Sharies ancestors were part of Montanas rich history. Her grandfather, William Dorrington, was one of the first rangers in Glacier Park. Her grandmother, Geneva Zimmerman, was born in a covered wagon on the Marias River. The Zimmerman family operated the Fairfield Post Office in the pioneer days.Sharie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Jack Dorrington.She is survived by her sister and guardian angel, Corrie Dorrington of Great Falls; niece Ceder Dorrington-Thacker of Missoula; nephews Kohl Dorrington-Thacker of Eugene, OR and Adrian John AJ Dorrington-Sadoski of Great Falls; several cousins; extended family; and her extraordinary life-long friend, Kathy Tice Beaumont.Despite a lifetime of medical challenges, Sharie maintained an unyielding positive demeanor. Never one to complain, her infectious smile and laughter never faded. No matter how sick she was, her greeting and tone of voice brought a smile to every face. An independent free spirit, her honesty, gentle strength and poignant candidness were hallmarks of her sterling character.
