Samuel Thomas Pappas, 84, of Great Falls and formerly of Garden City, MI, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016.A Trisagion service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Constantine and Helen Orthodox Church, 1101 1st Ave N.Samuel was born in Detroit, Michigan to Athens and Mary (Stratakos) Pappas. He is a retired Command Sergeant Major with the US Army and a veteran of the Korean War. He was a Ford Motor Consultant and former Mayor of Garden City.He held offices in the Orthodox Church, American Legion, Montana Veterans Memorial, Silver Beavers and countless others.Samuel is survived by his sons, Thomas (Laura) Pappas, Stephen Pappas both of MI, and Samuel T. Pappas Jr. of MT; sisters Angeline Pyke of CA, Frieda (William) Alli of D.C., and Victoria (James) Lagges of IL; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and enduring companion Anita.He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; one brother; and one sister.Our loving father, grandfather, and friend will be greatly missed.
