Sally Leanne Macmillan, born in Billings, MT, died at home August 23, 2017.Sally was predeceased by her parents, William Albert (Bill) Macmillan, Mildred Ann (Mickey) Green Macmillan and her brother, William Albert Macmillan, Jr. ; uncles, John T. Macmillan and Jack Naegele; aunts Rena Naegele and Patricia Drugge Macmillan; and her cousin, John Naegele.Surviving relatives include her uncle, James D Macmillan (Laura); aunt Catherine Macmillan; cousins, Mary Macmillan Buenger (Paul), Jane A Strange, Kelley Macmillan (Steve Harper), Anne Macmillan Webber (Randy), Nick Macmillan (Carol), Patrick Macmillan (Peggy), Tom Naegele, Jeanne Naegele Kohal (Mike), Ruthie Naegele, Lauri Johnson and Tracy Macmillan. She was a friend to many.Sally graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1961 and graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education in 1965. Sally began her teaching career in Portland, OR. She came to Great Falls in 1968 where she taught at Lewis and Clark and Chief Joseph schools. She retired from education in 1993.During her life, Sally was active with Delta Kappa Gamma, Olive Chapter Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, AAUW, Great Falls Education Association, Montana Education Association, National Education Association, Great Falls Transit Board and Great Falls Human Rights Task Force. She was a member of the YWCA Board of Directors and Neighborhood Council.No funeral will be held. Contributions may be made to a charity or organization of ones choice.Sally was initiated into Delta Chapter in 1973. She served in many chapter offices and on many committees. She served Alpha Mu State on a number of committees and as Alpha Mu State President 1991-1993. She attended the Seminar in Purposeful Living in 1988 in Williamsburg, VA, and the Leadership Management Seminar at the University of Texas in 1989. Sally was a participant in state conventions and regional conferences.Sally was a member of NEA/MEA/GFEA. She received numerous Silver Key Awards and the Golden Key for Professionalism in 1981 from the Great Falls Education Association. Following her retirement she was a member of the Northern Montana Retired Educators Association. She was named Woman of the Year by Copper Chapter of American Business Women in 1976.One of Sallys great joys was her association with the Scarlett Doo-Dahs Red Hat Society. She loved to go out to eat and visit.Sally will be remembered for her attention to detail and her memory of every member and their entire family. She was quick to call when hearing of a misfortune of another member.Rest in Peace, Sally
