Roy C. Volk Junior, 45, a Great Falls contractor, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012 at his residence of a heart failure. Memorial services will be held at the Best Western Plus Heritage Inn on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. with a reception to immediately follow. He attended Meadowlark Elementary School, West Junior High School and then graduated from CMR High School in 1985. He also attended both MSU and U of M. Roy owned and operated Volk Sand and Gravel here in Great Falls for the past 17 years. He was also a certified aircraft pilot with multiengine and commercial certifications. He had a special love for flying and was especially proud of his twin engine 421 Cessna. He enjoyed life to the fullest which involved hunting and fishing in Africa, Canada, Alaska, Mexico and Montana. He was very proud of his trophy collection, which is proudly displayed on the walls at the Placid Lake family cabin where he learned to water ski, ride motorcycles, fish and spend time with his family and friends. He has always said, Someday, I want to live at the cabin.Growing up, Roy spent many fulfilling days hunting and fishing at the Willow Creek Ranch, which became a special place for him and his son, who bagged his first buck deer at the ranch. Golfing with his friends, his brother-in-law, his father and his son was a favorite part of his life and he always enjoyed sharing his golfing tales. Roys heart was kind and loving. He was a gentle, quiet, considerate, kind, extremely proud and handsome young man. Roys smile and gorgeous green eyes lit up the room. He was always there with a helping hand for anyone in need, especially his mom. We are so fortunate and grateful to have had a son like Roy; we will hold him in our hearts forever. He will be deeply missed by his family and all of those fortunate enough to have shared time with him.One of the happiest moments of Roys life was the day his son Roy Brantly was born. His dad was his hero. Roy frequently spoke about helping his dad run his company, Volk Sand and Gravel. He called his dad BwanaGreat Hunter and his dad called him Son of Great Hunter. Roy was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, the Meadowlark Country Club, Trap Club and Safari Club, Int. Survivors include son Roy B. Jr. Jr.; former wife, Pam; mother and father Diane and Roy Volk; sisters Kathy Volk, Natalie Gilligan, Valerie (Greg) Goeser; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and many great friends. In memory of his dog, Bear, memorials may be sent to the Animal Foundation, P.O.
