Rosemary (Kammerer) Liston

Rosemary (Kammerer) Liston died on September 2, 2022, surrounded by her family and loving Highgate staff. She was born the 4th of eleven children on May 31, 1929, to Fred and Susan (Enders) Kammerer. She grew up on her Grandfather John and Grandmother Mary Kammerer’s family ranch outside of Rapid City, South Dakota. As a child, she rode her horse two and a half miles to the one room schoolhouse she attended. She was involved in 4-H throughout her youth. One of her canning entries won her a trip to Chicago to accept a prize from Mrs. Kerr herself. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1947. In 1950, while on a double date set up by friends, she met a young handsome serviceman, Robert Liston. They were married the following year and celebrated over 60 anniversaries. With Robert’s career in the Air Force, their family was taken to a new destination every two years including Louisiana, Guam and California. They raised a family of six children finally making Great Falls, MT their permanent home in 1962. Rosemary worked throughout her life as a bookkeeper and later as a school secretary. For over 20 years, she entertained many nursing home patients with the Swinging Singers. She was a member of the Great Falls Flower Growers beautifying our Library Park and was awarded Honorary Flower Grower Member of the Year in 2012. She volunteered for many years with her husband at the Great Falls Visitor Center and the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. She was also an active member of Holy Spirit Parish. Rosemary is survived by her children and their spouses, Ken (Julie) Liston, Tom (Patti) Liston, Bob Jr. (Janet) Liston, Doug (Sherri) Liston, Cynthia (John) Einan, and Rod (Desiree) Liston. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Marvin, Maurice, John, and Jake Kammerer; sister, Arlene Boetker; several nieces and nephews; as well as several special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, Fred and Susan; brother, Edward; sisters, Eva McAllister, Shirley Harbin, Deloris Komarek, and Joan Kline. Services will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on October 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Donations can be made to Holy Spirit Church or Great Falls Flower Growers Garden Club.
