Ronald L. Norris, 85, of Great Falls, passed away at his home Sunday, August 9, 2015.Ron was born in July 1930 in Clay Center, Kansas to Edgar and Esther Norris. When he was 14, the family moved to Plentywood, Montana to farm. Ron attended Plentywood High School until his father's failing health required him to leave after his 11th grade year to support the family. He began his career as a truck driver in Plentywood and then later transferred to Great Falls.He married his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Olson of Arnegard, North Dakota on November 25, 1961. After the wedding, Ron and Bonnie established their home in Great Falls and welcomed three girls, Jane, Lisa and Susan into their lives during the next 4 years. Ron worked for Buckingham Trucking, Salt Creek Freightway and Consolidated Freightway, while Bonnie was a registered nurse.Ron enjoyed being outdoors, camping, traveling to see family, morning coffee group, driving grain trucks during harvest, being with his grandkids, and the many hours he spent tending his yard and garden. Ron and Bonnie were also members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. They went on many trips, including China, Panama Canal, Caribbean, Alaska and many other states; and visited their youngest daughter Susan and her husband when he was deployed in Germany. Many of the past winters they enjoyed escaping the Montana cold and living in Venice, Florida.Ron is survived by his wife Bonnie; brother Don (Lois) Norris; sister LaWanda (Lee) Sherseth; daughters Jane (Glenn) Todd, Lisa Kvamme, and Susan (Stephen) Kessler; grandchildren Jenessa (Tony) Trudnowski, Breanna Todd, Braxton Todd, Damian Kvamme, Skylar Kvamme, and Noah Kvamme; and great-granddaughters Brynlee and Paige Trudnowski; and numerous nieces and nephews.Ron was preceded in death by his parents.We are grateful Ron is now at peace in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ.Memorial service will be Friday, August 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church with a luncheon to follow. Cremation has taken place and Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Redeemer Lutheran Church or charity of the donors choice.
