Robin Alexander Schreiner

June 15, 1957 — May 29, 2018

Robin Alexander Schreiner, 60, of Great Falls unexpectedly passed away on May 29, 2018. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Robin was born June 17, 1957 to Alexander and Sue Schreiner in Great Falls, MT. After graduating from CMR in 1975, he traveled the Midwest putting up Steel buildings. Later he pursued his passion for helping people, first working for Quality Life Concepts before moving on to the Columbus Hospital where he worked in the healthcare field for 34 years first as a Medical Orderly before going back to school at Northern Montana College and receiving his Associates of Science in Nursing in 1995. He spent the second half of his career as a Registered Nurse working for Benefis. After retiring early due to illness, Robin found a new way to contribute to the community by being appointed (later elected) to Neighborhood Council #8. Rob like any true Montanan, loved fishing, camping, and hunting. He took pride in his yard, not only loved his grandkids, but truly exceled at being a grandpa. We could go on, but what stands out, are holidays and his love of family gatherings. In fact, if any of us were a grump, we participated in holidays- not for the kids- but for Rob! In a fast-paced world, Rob had a way of ensuring the family marked every family occasion as an event worth cherishing- as a sense of respite despite the daily grind. Rob made sure we stopped to remember we are connected. So full of dreams and always the dreamer, poor Dannette had to drag Rob away from the parties as kids were being put to bed- because he was already planning the next fishing trip or BBQ. Fireworks burned brighter, cakes were sweeter, and presents were bigger and better because of Robin Schreiner. In fact, each get together was a tribute to his prodigy- and Rob was so proud of his prodigy. Rob beamed with pride that his daughter Kristen found her true calling in nursing as well, following in his footsteps. Rob also shined in his son Casey’s commitment to public service- himself finding a calling to public service later in life. Of course, Rob would do anything for his four grandchildren. As much love as he gave and gave, Rob, the big, teddy bear that he was, will be missed and was loved in return. Robin is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dannette; children State Representative, Casey Schreiner (Teresa) and Kristen Schreiner (Casey Green); grandchildren Aiden Schreiner (4), Liam Schreiner (2), Ella Green (2), and Finn Schreiner (9 months) of Great Falls. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Betty Callahan; sisters-in-law Deb McGloin, Raelene Olson, and Karen Driscoll; brothers-in-law Dan Callahan and Kevin Olson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents, Alexander and Sue Schreiner; siblings Kim, Shannon, Holly and Kelly; father-in-law Daniel Callahan; and brothers-in-law Mark McGloin, George Kore, Mick Callahan, and Patrick Driscoll.
