He loved his family deeply and their well-being was the most important thing in his life to him. Bob was born on November 7, 1930 in Great Falls, Montana to Ray and Gertude Walker. He grew up in Great Falls and was a starring GFHS quarterback, which turned into a lifelong love of sports, both as a participant and spectator. His friends remember great times with Bob playing softball, golf, handball and racquetball. After high school, Bob served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. He then began a successful 30-year career at the telephone company, starting as a lineman and finishing as a manager. One of the highlights of his career was hooking up phones for the White House during presidential visits to Great Falls. He met Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. Bob loved music, and played the violin in the GF Symphony. Giving back to the community was also important to Bob. He volunteered at the hospital, was a member of the Elks and Exchange clubs, and a History Museum board member. He gave considerable time reading to elementary students, and was honored with the Silver Apple award. Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed the camaraderie of his wide circle of friends. He will be remembered by them for his great sense of humor. We know Bob is smiling down at us and well continue to share his love of laughter and life. Zivjeli, Bob! Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne; daughters Denise, Marcia and Carole; and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th Str.
