Robert “Bob” Remus passed peacefully with his family by his side at Benefis Hospice care in Great Falls on September 13, 2021. Bob was born October 11, 1945, to Audrey and Al Remus in Great Falls. He married Barbara Walsh in August of 1970 and they celebrated their 51st anniversary in 2020. He attended Great Falls High School and then entered the US Army Reserves. Bob worked as an optician and ophthalmic technician for 45 years working for Cascade Opticians, for Dr. Bob Skinner, the Great Falls Clinic, and most recently Boes Eye Center. Bob loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed attending and watching many sporting events. Bob was very outgoing and had many lifelong friends. He put a smile on everyone’s face and will be missed by family and friends. He was a very good softball player and played on many outstanding teams. His most notable memory for everyone was his “non” catch of a fly ball which he has talked about for the fifty years since. Bob loved watching the Seattle Mariners, the Seahawks, and was on the fence between the Cats and Griz. He rooted for both teams which brought about some good natured discussions with family members. Bob was also a passionate fan of Bison basketball and CMR football (much to the annoyance of MOA officials). Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Al Remus. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters, Laurie (Graeme) Hill, Lyndie (Allen) Wirtala, and Bobbi Remus; grandchildren, Alanna Wirtala, Cash and Jaxon Sanders, and Trey Hill; siblings, Barry (Ann) Remus, Keli (Elaine) Remus, Shelley (Frank) Rossberg; and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
