Robert Dale McBride Sr., 76, of Great Falls, a retired heavy equipment operator and a U.S. Army veteran, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012 of a heart attack at a local hospital.A memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. For webcast information of the memorial service, please e-mail Raysha McBride at raysha_love@yahoo.com for the link. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Robert (Bob) Dale McBride Sr. was born on May 30, 1936 in Yakima, Washington to Robert Waters and Donna McBride. He was raised on the Fairfield Bench. He served in the army in Germany as a paratrooper and in the tank division. After the army, he worked as a driver at the Smelter in Great Falls, a rancher, a long haul truck driver, and as a heavy equipment operator for the Alaska Pipeline.Bob was a longtime member of the American Legion, VFW and the B.P.O.E. (Elks). He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing Santa, and playing jokes on anyone he could. In his later years, he went everywhere with his loving dog, Bear.Bob is survived by his daughters, Cathy Chavez and husband Raymond of Laredo, TX, Shari Van Cleve and husband Herb of Tracy, MT, Sandi Filipowicz and husband Tom of Great Falls and Kelly Stubbs of Great Falls; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Dale and Liane McBride, Jr. of Hondo, TX; sisters Marion St. Germain and Toni Hendershot and husband Wayne, all of Great Falls; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by both of his parents.Memorials in Bobs name are suggested to the VFW #1087, 4123 10th Ave S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
