Robert Conrad Bud Johnson, Jr. 71, of Great Falls, a retired printer for the Tribune died on Saturday, June 23, 2012 of cancer at his home.A graveside service for burial of Bud's ashes will be held 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Mount Olivet Cemetery.Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Robert Conrad Bud Johnson Jr. was born May 1, 1941.After serving in the navy, he had a career in the media/"public"ation industry from which he retired in 1991.Bud lived an insightful life, fully awake, poured out in caring, service and support, especially to the aged/medically challenged and terminally ill.He was known by his friends for encouraging the dignity of man, with tolerance toward others and caring for each other.Bud had interests in lifestyles, theatre, arts, humanities and the natural environment.He traveled extensively in Pacific Ocean waters and bordering countries: the South Pacific, Aleutians, Alaska, Canada & United States.He traveled by sea far enough to circumnavigate the world three times.He traveled by land far enough to love several cities.He traveled in life far enough to love several people, and, in turn, be loved.Bud is survived by his niece, Terrie Lyn Ryan Shaw (Jamie) of Missoula; his nephew, Barrie Lee Ryan of Spokane; his long time great friends Jack Cotton and Jim Sikora of Great Falls; and several cousins, great nephews and a great niece.Bud was preceded in death by his sister, Connie May Johnson (Dennis) Ryan of Missoula; his nephews, Larry & Garry Ryan of Missoula; his parents, Gladys Anna Dardis & Robert Conrad Johnson, Sr. of Great Falls; his paternal grandparents, Lydia Nelson & Per Elof Johnson of Sweden; his maternal grandparents, Anna Johanna Rasmussen Dardis whose family came from Denmark & William Christopher Dardis whose family came through Minnesota from Mullingar, West Meath, Ireland.Condolences may be posted online at www.schniderfuneralhome.com
