Robert Hale Bishop, 87, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at his home with his family by his side.A graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery in Harve, Montana on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. A memorial service for Robert will be held in Great Falls on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Healers House, 2212 Central Ave SW, at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.Bob was born on February 20, 1928 in Fort Benton, Montana to John and Ada Bishop. He was raised on a family homestead in Shonkin, Montana. He had four siblings. He joined the Army at age 17 and served in the Infantry until discharged to return home to help on the family farm. He retired after working many years on the Burlington Northern Railroad as a Conductor in Great Falls, Montana.He married Norma Jean Colton in 1945 and had seven children: Carroll Bishop of Guatemala; Christina (Charly) Torman of Farmington, MN, Rita (Mick) Farrell of Lisle, IL, Faye (Christopher) Lockwood of Mesa, AZ, Robert (Geneta) Bishop of Butte, MT, Wanda (Frank) Shields of Butte, MT and Richard (Kelly) Bishop of Polson, MT.Bob then married Doris M. Shelstad on July 24, 1975, which expanded his family and added a total of six stepchildren: Jim (Sue) Erickson of Great Falls, MT, Ervin (Doreen) Shelstad of Harve, MT, Pamela Shelstad of Havre, MT, Roxanne Shelstad, Tresa (Dan) Nagy of Great Falls, MT, and Sharnai (Mike) Hamilton of Havre, MT.Bob is survived by his wife Doris Bishop; seven children; five stepchildren; 36 grandchildren; 47 greatgrandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his four siblings; and step daughter Roxanne Shelstad.Some of Roberts last words to remember, It is a great sacrifice to leave this earth because I love so many.His family adds, Please dont grieve for me, for I am now free. My life followed the path that God placed before me.
