Robert Bob Tynes, age 83, known for his fishing prowess, pride in his family, plumbing and welding skills, and bright blue eyes, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013.At Bobs request, no services are planned. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Bob was born in Great Falls, Montana and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1948. During WWII, he served in the Army at Fort Bliss, TX. After leaving the military, he met and married his wife of 59 years, LaVerne Milette, on June 12, 1954. They had two children, Sheryl and Gene, who he was very proud of. Bob was a licensed pilot and loved flying. Bob learned construction and plumbing from his father, Walter Tynes Sr., who founded Tynes Plumbing and Heating in Great Falls. Bob worked as a municipality contractor for various cities all over Montana and he developed Tynes Addition in Great Falls. Bob held a Master Plumbers License #611 and went on to own and operate his own utility construction company. Always social and never one to pass up a good laugh, he also owned and operated the Longhorn Lounge for nine years.Active in civic affairs, Bob was a charter member and Past President of the Miracle Mile Kiwanis Club; Founder and Past President of the CMR Vigilante Sports Club; served on the Board of Directors of the Tavern Owners; and was a member of the National Rifle Association.Bob was a voracious reader of the daily paper, non-fiction, and fiction of whatever he could get his hands on that had quality. While he was active in his businesses and community, his heart belonged to the outdoors, spending quality time with his family and dog, and fishing and hunting at his Smith River cabin. He loved sitting on the front porch with his children and grandchildren, enjoying a cup of coffee, and tying a Bitch Creek special on the end of his fly fishing line. He spent hours on the river teaching his four grandchildren how to cast a line and clean a fish. Bob included his family and friends in his hunting experiences, both in story and adventures. His family knows that part of his success at living to 83 years old was not only his love of the outdoors, but his insistence that Oreos are, actually, made entirely from vegetables and that the key to a good nights sleep is a bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce before bed every night. At the end of this long, happy life, we encourage those who loved him to remember one of Bobs favorite quotes, the time man spends fishing are not deducted from his allocated time on earth and spend an afternoon casting a line in a Montana river.Bob is survived by his wife, LaVerne; children Dr. Sheryl Tynes and husband, Gary Sailor of San Antonio, TX and Dr. Gene Tynes and wife Kelly of Great Falls; grandchildren Sadie, Heidi, Grayam, and Tess; and brother Arthur (Mary) Tynes. He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Tynes Jr; and sister Dorothy Bruce. Should friends desire, contributions may be made in Bobs honor to the charity of their choice
