Robert "Bob" Lund

September 21, 1925 — September 26, 2017

Robert Bob K. a retired CMSgt, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 with his family at his side, just 5 days past his 92nd birthday.Bob was one of 7 children born to Ernest Eugene and Ida Mae (Andersen) Lund in Fountain Green, Utah on September 21, 1925. Upon graduating from American Fork High School, he joined the Navy and served during the latter part of WWII. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Bob joined the Army/Air Corp, starting on his goal of serving in all branches of the military. Upon the division of the Army and Air Force, Bob chose to make a career with the Air Force. However, it did fulfill his goal, as the Marines at the time were part of the Navy as the Coast Guard was not yet part of the military family.Bob was a strong unassuming man that did not like any form of attention, as he said he liked to Fly under the radar. During his almost 30 years of a successful Air Force career, he was awarded many honors and awards. Bob attained the rank of CMSgt when this rank was first instituted. The last years of his military career, he traveled to many small bases and sites speaking with the young troops as he put it, just to see what their needs were and what morale issues may arise. Many changes Bob recommended can still be found in place today. He served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to Maj Gen William Harrell, and NCOIC of Operations. Not wanting him to retire, Gen Harrell nominated Bob for a great honor as the CMSgt of the Air Force.Once Bob retired, he worked as the camp caretaker for the Camp Fire Girls. He loved hunting, fishing, watch making, bowling, and wood gathering, to name just a few of his hobbies. Above all Bob was a family man, he loved his wife totally and completely and spending time with his family was what brought him the greatest pleasure. In 1951, Bob married Bonnie Lou Miller in Colville, WA. Together they raised their daughters, Marlene and Sue and they instilled morals, ethics, pride, and common sense.Bob is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie of 66 years; daughters Marlene Stegmeier (Wayne) and Sue Cassell (Larry); granddaughters Heather, Tami, and Adrienne; great grandkids Connor, Kendall, Deven, Jovi, Braxton, Mason, Cole, Beckam, Garyn and Emma; son-in-law Mark Matthews; and special nephew, Ron Freeman (Kathy). He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and granddaughter Kim Matthews.Bob was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to all who knew him. We miss him already and the hole he leaves in our hearts and lives will be filled with all of the great memories we made as a family.God speed dad, we love you and miss you.Cremation has taken place and per Bobs request no services are planned.
