Richard Dick Hanson, 65, of Great Falls, passed away from cancer at his home on April 20, 2015.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home. The funeral liturgy will be Friday, April 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Dick was born January 16, 1950, in Great Falls. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1968 and that same year he enlisted in the Army Reserves and served six years. While in the reserves, Dick enrolled in college and graduated from the University of Montana in 1974.After graduating from the University, Dick sold insurance. He moved back to Great Falls and married Jeanie Naughton in August of 1975. His creative juices got the best of him and he started working in the painting and decorating business for other contractors. In 1982, Dick went out on his own and started his own painting and decorating business, Rich Finishes. He retired in January of this year. Those who knew him realized he had a real passion for his craft. He made many great friendships over the years with many of his clients.Dick was one of the greatest story tellers there was and held his audience captive until the last word. Some believed him, some did not. He had several coffee shops he frequented where he and the guys solved the worlds problems. Some in agreement, some not. Dick was a proud father, grandfather, and had a special love for people. He has always been known for his high energy and sense of humor. Dick was an avid sports fan. He and Jeanie attended Grizzly football games in the fall, and Dick could be found at most any GFHS sporting event.Dick is survived by his wife, Jeanie; son Patrick (Lindsay) of Bozeman; daughter Meghan of Washington, DC; grandson Tyson Hanson; brothers Don of Great Falls; Tom of Spokane; and Ted of California.He was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Gladys.In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
