Richard B. Dick Ruckman, 84, of Black Eagle, retired mechanic and U.S. Marine Corp veteran, died of natural causes on Monday, June 10, 2013 at his home.A private family service was held.Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Dick was born on September 30, 1928 in Bassano, Alberta, Canada to John and Ella (Stewart) Ruckman. He was raised in Cassils, Alberta, Canada.He went into the U.S. Marine Corp in September of 1950 during the Korean conflict. After the service, he worked and owned a service station as a mechanic and he also worked for the Anaconda Copper Mining Company.He married Joan Jessop in 1956 in Great Falls. He was a member of the Black Eagle Civic Club, Black Eagle Fire Dept., Elks Lodge, Eagle Lodge and the Moose Lodge.He was also a leader for the Boy Scouts of America and a lifetime member of the Montana Draft Horse Association.Dick was also a jack of all trades.Dick is survived by the mother of his children, Joan Ruckman of Great Falls; children Brian Ruckman of Black Eagle, Robert Ruckman of Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada, Bruce (Janae) Ruckman of Fairfield, Ellarae (Todd) Anderson and Marilyn Ruckman both of Billings; special friend, Marlene Bryne of Portland, OR; brother Donaven Ruckman of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and ten grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Calvin Ruckman; and sister, Elizabeth Betty Clifford.In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dicks name may be made to the Black Eagle Civic Club, PO Box 202, Black Eagle, MT 59414.
