Rex Leon Oliver Jr., 84, of Great Falls, a retired pharmacist and Navy veteran, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 of natural causes at a local care facility.A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery with military honors by the Marine Corps League. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Rex was born on June 6, 1928 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He went to high school in Torrington, Wyoming followed by college at Colorado University. During World War II he was on a troop transport ship with the Navy. After he graduated college he came to Great Falls and worked as a pharmacist at Bernard Drug, Super Save Drug, and then at the Deaconess Hospital before retiring. Rex was a mason. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis when he was younger, walking around Great Falls, drawing, painting with acrylics, photography, and bicycling along the Rivers Edge Trail.He is survived by his sister, Esther Hennie Wooldridge; nieces and nephews, Kay, Charlie, Kevin, Mike, Katie, Irene, and Trisha; and numerous great nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Carter.Condolences for the family may be posted on line at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
