Rev. James "Jim" Amaral

March 23, 1940 — March 22, 2020

Jim heard the final bugle call on March 22, 2020. He spent 24 years of his life in military service. He left active duty to pursue a college education so that he could serve his God. He gave 20 years of his life to active ministry, all in the great state of Montana. He retired in May 2002, and enjoyed this time with the love of his life, Beverly. He enjoyed outdoor activities as well as traveling, something leftover from his active duty days. Jim and Beverly lived in Butte, Montana from 1986 to 2018, and called it home. Jim was born on March 23, 1940, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Ann Dickens on April 19, 1960. Jim is survived by his four children, Lisa (John) Carter of Great Falls, Ruth (Dave) French of Billings, James Amaral of Richmond, Virginia, and Kristy (Josh) Brookes of Molalla, Oregon. He also has 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Beverly; both of his parents; and one great-granddaughter, Remi. The family would like to thank the staff of The Cottage at Highgate in Great Falls, Montana, for the loving care shown their dad in the last year and a half of his life. Memorials may be made in Jim’s name to Alzheimer’s research or a Veteran’s organization of your choice. The immediate family will have a private service at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery, where Jim’s ashes will be placed.
