Rev. Arnold "Arnie" Fischer

Reverend Arnold Emil Fischer Arnie, 85, of Great Falls, was called home to heaven to be with his Lord on January 31, 2017 at Peace Hospice with his family at his side.The funeral service will be Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Falls. A luncheon will be held after the service and the burial will take place at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Fairfield.Arnold was born in Milbank, SD in 1931 and began his schooling there. He graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO in 1952. He completed 11 years of training for the ministry and completed his vicarage in Sheboygan, WI. Arnold accepted his first call and was ordained and installed into the ministry as pastor of a triple parish in Crosby, ND, Fortuna, ND, and Plentywood, MT. In 1960, Arnold accepted a call to Zion Lutheran Church in Power, MT where he met and married Marjory Stengrimson on September 10, 1961. Arnie and Marjory loved each other faithfully for over 55 years.He was a man of tremendous faith and fortitude. He was a servant, husband, and father. He served congregations in Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Nebraska before retiring in 1996. He and Marjory returned to Montana where he continued to serve vacancies and conduct Bible studies for many years after his retirement. On July 21, 2002, Arnold celebrated the 45th anniversary of his ordination.Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Ewald and Martha Fischer; sister Irma; and brother Milton.He is survived by his wife Marjory of Great Falls; sisters Alma Buttke and Beverly Berkner of Minnesota; daughters Debbie Trennepohl (Mark) and Kristi Beam (Don) both of Phoenix; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Memorials or donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour.
