Ralph E. Follinglo

Ralph E. Follinglo was born in Missoula, MT on December 8, 1947, to Agnes and Tollef Follinglo. He felt fortunate to live in the Orchard Homes area where he enjoyed all kinds of outdoor activities. He had fond memories of being able to hunt and fish with a lot of his buddies. He graduated from Hellgate High School in 1966 and attended the University of MT. He graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a major in history and a minor in geography. Ralph was an avid fan of trains and worked during the summers laying track for the Milwaukee Railroad from 1968-1972. He had an extensive collection of train memorabilia especially from the Milwaukee Railroad. He served in the Montana Army National Guard from 1970 to 1976. In 1973, he moved to Great Falls and was hired by the Great Falls School District in 1974. He taught history at the junior high and high school level. During his teaching career he met Beverly Helm who was also a teacher. They married in 1977. In 1982, he switched careers and followed in his father’s footsteps becoming a building contractor. He built numerous homes and completed many remodeling projects until he was forced to retire in 2021 due to health reasons. He passed away on May 21, 2022, after battling cancer for over a year. Ralph is survived by his wife, Bev; sister, Trudi Schmidt, sister-in-law, Kathy Follinglo; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Follinglo. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Faith Lutheran Church (1300 Ferguson Drive) with internment to follow at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that you honor Ralph’s memory by donating to Faith Lutheran Church, Sletten Cancer Center, or any charity of your choice.
