Rachel I. (Maisel) Johnson, 95, of Great Falls and formerly of McHenry, ND, died Friday, September 30, 2011, at Park Place Health Care Center in Great Falls.Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 6, at Evans Funeral Home in New Rockford, North Dakota. Burial has taken place in Prairie Home Cemetery in New Rockford. Schnider Funeral Home handled local arrangements. Rachel I. Maisel was born on September 26, 1916, in McHenry, ND, the daughter of John and Minnie (Schultz) Maisel. She was raised in Eddy County and was educated at Cherry Lake School #2.On September 24, 1935, Rachel was united in marriage to Samuel O. Johnson in New Rockford, ND. The couple farmed in Brantford/McHenry areas until 1960. They moved to Montana and Washington where they managed several gas stations. After her husbands death she moved to Great Falls, MT to be with her son David and family. In 2004, she entered the Park Place Health Care Center in Great Falls, MT.She is survived by two sons, Stanley Johnson of Culbertson and David (Betty) Johnson of Great Falls; three grandsons; two granddaughters; two stepgranddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Overby of Fargo, ND; and two brothers, John Maisel of Spanaway, WA and Willard Maisel of Billings, MT.Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Samuel O. Johnson; six brothers; five sisters; two sons, Milo and Sammy; a daughter, Carol; a great-grandson, Joshua Johnson; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Johnson.
