Philip C. Sweeney

Philip C. Sweeney, 86, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Sunday, October 25, 2015.The funeral liturgy will be Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Philip was born on December 12, 1928 to Michael and Rose (Holzfaster) Sweeney in Neola, Iowa. He lived in Adair, Iowa until he turned 18, joining the Army during the Korean War. He came to Great Falls after being honorably discharged. He started working in construction, and then at Electric City Printing. He eventually went to work at the Great Falls Tribune where he later retired.He married Janet Rusick on May 10, 1952 at St. Anns Cathedral.Philip is survived by his wife, Janet Sweeney; son Mark (Colleen) Sweeney of Great Falls; daughters Leslie (Paul) Casper of Denver, CO, Sandra (Michael) ORourke and Karen (Steve) Prinzing both of Great Falls; brother Max (Ida) Sweeney of Great Falls; nine grandchildren, Apryl, Jacob, Coltin, Christine, Kellie, Carly, David, Elle, and Michael; and six great-grandchildren, Ryder, Hazen, Ridge, Tenley, Hadlee, and Carston.He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen; sister Margaret; brothers Vincent, Emmett, Donald, Basil, Bernard, Raymond, and Harold.
