Norvil Carlson

d. December 19, 2023

On December 19, 2023, Norvil traveled to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Norvil was born in October of 1934, to Ethel (Engberg) and Adolph Carlson in Crosby, North Dakota. He grew up on a family farm with 4 brothers including Joseph, Myron, Russell, and Donald. After serving in the U.S. Army, Norvil attended college where he met the love of his life, Avalyn, who goes by Abbey. They would have celebrated their 65th anniversary in May of 2024. He went on to complete both bachelors and masters degrees. Norvil and Abbey both pursued careers in education, and Norvil spent the last 27 years as a Principal and Counselor in the Great Falls Public School System. He retired in 1994.

Norvil enjoyed attending sporting events at Charles M. Russell High School, traveling with his Wife, Abbey, spending time with friends and family, visiting grandchildren, attending church, and helping his son, Randy with his farming operation. Even though Norvil spent his working life in education, he always had a love for farming. He thoroughly enjoyed making his daily rounds. shopping for groceries, visiting acquaintances, and working out at the Peak. He was always willing to lend a hand when others had a project or activity going on. We will all miss his positive attitude, gentle spirit, and quirky sense of humor which he maintained until the end of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Abbey; sons, Randy (Debbie) and Craig; daughter, Mary (Mark Hoff) Carlson; and grandchildren, Cassidy Hoff and Chloe Hoff; brothers, Russ and Don. Norvil had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews especially for great nieces, Kaitlyn and Libby who spent much of their young lives with Norvil and Abbey in their home.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service for Norvil on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Bible Church in Stockett, MT.
